Michael Eckersley

I found the lecture to be inspiring. A quote by Marc Newsom “my job is about what is going to happen, not what has happened,” was shared at the beginning and provided inspiration to me for the rest of the evening. With that being said, it opened my mind to many possibilities. Eckersley showed us a few of his students’ projects and I was amazed. To me they seemed mind boggling, just like being a graphic designer is to my computer illiterate mother. The students were designers of an automobile interface for various different things. They made rough drafts of their project then made a movie showing what it would do. I loved their ‘rough’ drafts as they were sticky notes and pieces of papers that they would change out as the options in the car would change. Over all it was a great night to be inspired, it challenged me to open my mind and look at things with multiple points of view.
